Reminder that he said he was so in love with the characters of gen 8 that he was having dreams about them. He was dreaming about Hop. Fucking HOP. He honestly thought Rose was a magnificent villain instead of the autistic retard he is. He thought the story was great and perfect to the point where he couldn't see a single flaw in it. The same story that practically doesn't exist and that the player never gets to interact with until the end because everyone else does everything for him.
I think the best comparison is that Ohmori is that one DM, that one guy, that one fucking guy that when he runs a game puts all of his players on the sideline and makes them all be supporting characters to all his DMPC's. Think about it, Leon is said to be a perfect, undefeated battler who is the strongest champion (and going by the subtext that's laid out in the game from the cards, the strongest champion in the WORLD), he's loved by all, and he's also a capable business manager who was next in line to inherit everything Rose had. His signature pokemon is Charizard, and Charizard's so loved by the region that literal ranks are named after it. Any time there's a major event that would be interesting to experience or that would have added to the bare-bones shitfest of the plot, you DON'T get to do it. Instead, fucking Leon takes care of everything and all the other characters just tell you about that really cool thing you missed.
It's not just Leon but I think he's the biggest victim of Ohmori's awful writing. Masuda's a liar yes, but we still don't know how much of it was his own idea or how much of what he's been saying he was forced to say because of the shit Tsunekazu's been doing. But Ohmori was the guy who wrote the awful, AWFUL story and he genuinely thinks it's a masterpiece. What a twat.
