They beat the game, said “eh” and never touched it again. It’s just an anecdote, but I have a feeling it was like this for many people.
I’ll say this, the games are doing exactly what GameFreak wants. People commit little time and move on. Post game doesn’t matter because many people just want to fill their library for their popular home console with games they recognize and feel comfortable with.
I mean, even Kirby Star Allies is one of the best selling Kirby games. Talk to any Kirby fan and they’ll probably say it was mediocre compared to other recent titles. The Switch is just good at pushing software.
