I don't understand how DLC will fix Sw/Sh. It just adds two new areas. It honestly needed a third version to make it a more satisfying experience but that's off the table now.

They aren't going to patch the graphics now but that's something that would've been fixed with a third version. They did it in USUM.

Mario Kart is still selling since people are still buying Switches, so by that logic new owners will be the ones buying the "essentials" like Pokemon, BotW, etc.

It could add the missing Pokemon, then add a bunch of areas that are large and maze-like and actually a challenge to explore. They won't, of course, but they could.

The only reason the game sold that much copies is cuz "muh dream of a pokemon main line game on console has come true" and the fact that it's the "first" (cuz let's go doesn't count apparently) main line pokemon game on console. Mark my word, Gen 9 will sell less then SwSh.

It'll be funny though if Game Freak capitulates to the Internet noise machine and makes Generation IX for the "hardcore fans," only for it to sell noticeably less than Sword and Shield, so they decide Sword and Shield-type Pokémon games are what the people want.

This is what happens when Nintendo stops releasing and marketing two systems in a single generation, and they put all of their resources into one system. More developers and more franchises get put on the Switch, and more people with a Switch will have access to Pokemon games since it is no longer a handheld-only thing.

This has less to do with SWSH's success, and more to do with SWSH actually being on the fastest growing Nintendo system of all time.
