yes, because explaining things is something that Pokemon, a franchise aimed at children, never ever did. Because newcomers don’t exist for a franchise that keeps growing bigger and bigger in each generation.

Gen IV, with the further change to the art style. All those terrible cross-evos and the softer, kiddier style turned me off, even though I still maxed out the game clock back in the day.
Looking back, gen IV is weird but not terrible, as much as I still dislike the style and the creature designs, but Pearl is the last Pokemon game I haven't pirated.

Black and White in general. The noticeable dip in challenge, the linearity, doctors and nurses around on like every route to heal you, being forced to catch a legendary.
The only thing I can commend Black and White for is locking you to the generations new pokemon, but other than that Black and White was where the end began.

I was sipping my onions one night before bed, playing with my Switch on low volume so that I could still hear my wife's moans as I traded a dragapult with her son, when I decided I'd see how my fellow /vp/oreons were enjoying the game when I saw that it was getting an excessive amount of unwarranted and unjustified hate? It greatly upset me and still gives me much discomfort that there are people here that judge a game they've never even bought.

X/Y. The story of pokémon games were pretty much filler, but in X/Y they started taking it seriously. Being aimed at children and young teenagers, when you're an adult it just feels like a cringefest that keeps halting your progress with pointless cutscenes.

Sun/Moon doubld it down with Lillie's Quest and that's when I quit the series for good. I couldn't even finish the game due to how boring it was to follow a dotted line only to get interrupted by Lillie every ten minutes, which was a pity since the actual difficulty of the battles felt nice.

The only thing I have discomfort with are some of the designs, but I recognize that for the "old good, new bad" thought that it is. Everything else came after my realization that I'm no longer the target audience of these games so it doesn't really bother me. What I enjoy about the games hasn't really changed so I have no substantial reason to be upset outside of "it's different so it sucks".

laugh all you want, when i was a kid, i couldnt figure out how to use the pokemon center (crystal was my first game) because i didnt think i could talk to the lady since she was a whole tile away from me. i just walked around and stopped going in the grass when my pokemon got in the red because i thought it was going to die.
