Now they literally shower you with stuff for as little as logging in. Same with Pokemon Go, which in fact has probably the least amount of intrusive microtransactions despite being a massive worldwide success.
Also, one big difference you seem to be missing - neither of these games are PvP focused (with Masters having no PvP and Go only getting it recentely). There is a whole lot of difference between needing to roll 1-2 rare characters to clear out all of the game’s avaliable content, and getting regularly stomped by little Timmy and his army of 4 Deoxys straight from his momma’s wallet, which THEN get replaced by even stronger figures in 1-2 month span. Anyone with a brain could see that this model wasnt sustainable in a long run.
