Roadblockes should only exists for plot reasons, anything other than that is a failure from a design pov, that doesn't let you explore. If you think "can I go there?" See, a good idea of a roadblock would be to have a shepherd and his flock in the middle of the road, making it difficult to pass through. He could even have a Yamper that acts defensive if you get too close to the flock.
If they're going to still use these retarded roadblocks, at least mimic something seen irl and the fact that they have the opportunity to do so.

The roadblocks in SWSH are shit because every roadblock is just someone standing in the way. At least the previous games had other stuff in the way which required you using a HM, Poke Ride or something else like the Bike or Go-Goggles.

sometimes you can't cross a road if anaml herds are blocking it, it happens in some countries a lot and and if a band gathered in a small place you can't also pass them due to limited space, but a a kid is sad so I can't pass?

Why not just design your linear game in a linear fashion so as not to necessitate roadblocks?
Why not create a real justification for your roadblocks such construction or some kind of accident?
Why not just bring back HM obstacles as roadblocks that just don't respawn when you leave the area?
Why not just not have roadblocks at all and let the player die in high level areas early?

1 - Psyduck would be like wild animals in the middle of the pathway, you can't get past it unless it moves.

2 - Footprints of a "rare" creature, you wouldn't want someone walking over them.

BUT I have played pokemon rpgs before

Remember literally the entirety of kanto after Mt. Moon?
Remember the entirety of Johto after the 3rd gym? Also, you had lots of optional places to explores inbetween the first two gyms
Remember how you could skip the second gym in Hoenn? And how the world kinda opened after the 3rd gym and the 6th gym?
Remember non plat Sinnoh?

Roadblocks only started becoming shit during gen 5, but even then BW1/2 allowed you to fully explore the next route most of the time before doing the next gym
In gens 6 7 and 8 you shouldn't even bother to explore. Just finish the gyms and watch the cutscenes ASAP

This shit is in the very town that you just entered and they only block it off because they want you to talk to that chucklefuck Sonia AT THAT VERY MOMENT. Blocking off parts of the town is inexcusable when you gain access to them mere minutes later.
