Pokemon is a collection game with a grind mechanic, grinding means more play time and attention given to that product. If you ever notice, people only REALLY play pokemon AFTER the main story where you do the most catching and grinding and also explains why the exp gain is dogshit. That's why so many ppl are bored with swsh because you can level a whole team to 100 in 5 mins and that removes a huge chunk of the appeal to keep playing. If they didnt care about reaching 100 then they would of did what cyber sleuth did and only be able to lv 100 your mon if you evolved and raised it the right way. They set the preferred level to 50 because most ppl simply dont give a shit enough to really level past that in most cases.
