Not really, remember all the speculation before the reveal? It may be lacking in content and and lazily slapped together, but it’s still pokémon at it’s core. It's Mario Kart. Mario Kart Wii was also the top seller on the Wii.

Most people never had a Wii U, so it's basically like the original Mario Kart 8 never existed.

Mario Kart 8 sold what like 30M between the Wii U/Switch versions? The game is fundamentally the same shit we've been getting since the N64. They can't even come up with a real single player mode that isn't "race around the whopping 30 new tracks at different speeds while getting spammed to shit by rubberband AI whenever you take the lead"
