The Japanese game industry does NOT favor the concept of indie studios producing small games that barely sell that aren't like 1 or 2 guys. Especially after the 90s. It's the same issue that happened to a hundred other studios of the era. Game Freak had it easy because they leaned hard on one franchise that made them tons of dosh. If not for Pokemon they probably would've died with the 90s. I agree with
