If you had the chance to, what would you rewrite in the story? I'd change the way the human is turned into a Pokemon and better explain the nature of Time Gears

The only major plot hole I can think of in Explorers is why the fuck weren't the Time Gears just put in Temporal Tower to begin with?

As far as I understand it:

You have to jump through some hoops but at least the logic is there. Don't get me wrong, that could have been explained a lot better and could be rewritten

If Darkrai can steal them right out from under Dialga's nose why go to the trouble of putting them back in the world to keep time running for a long-ass time before gradually decaying into the world of darkness he wanted?
Couldn't he just destroy them? Or if that's not possible just hold on to them while time would start decaying by itself without their presence.

My assumption was that the Time Gears were a fail-safe meant to repair the tower if it were ever damaged. But over time knowledge about their true purpose was lost and everyone assumed they regulated time on their own.
I also assumed there were more Time Gears out there than the ones we saw, like the volcano Time Gear we never saw for real.

I would have the generation 1-7 or perhaps 8 Pokémon in there and have Ultra Necrozma as the true final boss, Darkari wanted to stop time so that Necrozma could absorb the light from the world or a separate scenario would be right after that, eternatus would be summoned by the suns light going out, the two are about to duel over the domain but instead choose to battle the player and their partner, along with their team as they believe they could crush them easily, then a double battle takes place like with Reshiram and Zekrom on Super Mystery dungeon

I guess it's because harder to take hidden time gears from several stronger beings rather than just one? Not being sarcastic, just trying to come up with an answer
