The truth is that everyone just wants to be offered some sort of positive trait by their partner, and offering something back is simply the obligation for being in a relationship. People build up their positive qualities so that other people will accept them, which allows them access to their positive qualities, etc. Also, some people can offer things by being their natural selves.
