That's actually true I guess. Gen 3 had a bunch of optional areas, but none were locked to post Elite Four. I guess in my mind I always consider postgame to be synonymous with "optional area that's just there for you to go explore and catch Pokemon in."

Depends on how you look at it. In RS, if you do everything you possibly can before the E4, then there’s no post game besides Battle Tower and catching Rayquaza and Latios/Latias. But there’s tons of optional shit you can just leave as “post game”

It still sucks in comparison to previous games, but it's more than swoosh, which says more about that game's lack of content than it does positively for XY
