Are there any 3d pokemon fan games out there? I'm surprised that there seems to be a lack of 3d fan games other than Chinese app knockoffs.

3D is significantly harder to develop for, especially if you're making a fan game i.e. you need to program 3D movement and camera logic yourself

But like, even if you just hacked together some shoddy thing in Unity and the camera was totally static the entire time, that would be perfectly well on par with the 3D games GF has put out. Remember that we’re talking about a POKÉMON fan game.

Well, programming movement isn't that hard.
Programming a camera that isn't complete garbage is, which is why low-effort indieshit like Gone Home is always first-person.
There's also the expectation of a dynamic battle camera.

Then there's the fact that doing 3D models takes a more specialized skillset than creating 2D sprites, and you simply can't get away with not animating shit.
