You must be mistaken. That's for double battles, which only appear a handful of times in the campaign.
Surely even Gamefreak isn't incompetent enough to use an entirely different format in the campaign than in the official meta? Surely they'd realize that such a foolish decision would lead people to flock to a fanfic meta that utilizes the playstyle that they've been conditioned to prefer.

being a crazy offensive pivot, extremely strong form of speed control, and a great breaker doesn't matter when pivoting isn't feasible in a 3v3 setting, dedicated speed control is not as important in a bring6 pick 3 version of singles, and losing a turn of momentum from being locked into the wrong move will make it's breaking ability subpar in a meta with an average turn count in the single digits.

Can't abuse sleep, can't use OHKO moves, can't use evasion moves, can't use the ability Moody, can't use trapping abilities, can't use Shadow Tag, can't Baton Pass, and can't Dynamax.
The PP boost actually isn't fanfic. That's just the max PP you can have if you use PP ups, which haven't been finite since gen 2.

PP Ups are especially common now that Loto-ID is available in every pokemon center.
I could never be bothered to go to the festival plaza for it in gen 7 but now I get a PP Up or PP Max almost every day.

In the game my darm OHKOd and outsped literally every trainer while still being like 7 levels lower than them. You can also find a choice band on route 2 and a scarf in the mushroom town to make it more ridiculous.

You need something with a Mold Breaker ability to surpass the Disguise ability of Mimikyu and OHKO it. There’s Pangoro, but it’s 4x weak to fairy.
