>>42672254While parts of Kalos are great the region felt too small for what it was trying to be, I think they needed to dedicate more to the in-game world to make each location flow from one to the other and make each environment come off more natural.
I think it'd be cool if they'd perhaps had the five arms of Kalos reflect the five major environments presented;
> South-East = Grasslands> South-West = Coastal> North-West = Badlands> North = Snowy Tundra> North-East = SwampsAside from adding more locations (having the total number of Routes closer to 30-35 and more side dungeons and locations) to properly develop each environment, also more properly mix the environments together, the connecting areas between each environment shouldn't just be some interior environment like Connecting Cave or Lumiose City to hide the fact that there isn't really this transition from one environment to another.
You could have the plains of South Kalos transform slowly into giant sandy hills with giant brush and grasses and then finally into the coastline, coast into badlands could be a series of steppes showing how the ocean has eroded the poor quality earth in the area but also how the water isn't reach inland. For badlands to snow this is where you could re-purpose Route 14, turning it into a dead forest and mangroves on a salt plain that rapidly climbs up towards the eastern mountain range where you'd finally get green trees again only for them to then become covered in snow. The snow from the mountain peaks could have hot springs that are found around the peaks and although small are numerous, with the run-off water leading into rivers that form into the Couriway Falls which then lead into the Swamp environment we see on Route 19 and South-East Kalos which would have some rivers leading back into the forests and plains of South Kalos again.
You'd have to rework some of the cities namely Laverre, Snowbelle & Shalour but it'd make for a more consistent region.
