tl;dr: Nintendo's new CEO thinks that the company being divided across four or more fucking offiices in Japan is stupid and leads to an uneeded lack of synergy and communication between all main bodies.
So they're going to rent a gigantic fucking building and they're moving in all of their people into that and also a few close studios they find to be "valuable partners" like 1-UP Studios and Gamefreak. He believes that this will lead to much more efficiency in making shit.
Nobody is buying anyone, Nintendo is just going "hey GF, we rented this gigantic thing, more room than we need, wanna join us?"
