I just think monstrous anthropomorphs looks better for an animal-like creature (as they are mostly depicted in Pokemon. They may be more intelligent than animals, they retained the "wild" aspect) than humanoid creatures.
In other words, when a Pokemon looks kinda like a Blacksad character (Inteleon and Cinderace especially) I feel like they're gonna speak and act as humans.
But when I look at Antylamon, I see it more like a monster with an anthropomorphic shape, like the yeti or a gorilla, and I don't feel like it's able to talk (Even if digimon can talk, but that's another thing).
That has nothing to do with coomers, just a preference.
I think the difference is the way the proportions are handled. Antylamon has weird proportions, and even if it has 2 arms, 2 legs, a torso, an abdomen and a head, and is bipedal, it clearly doesn't look like a human being.
That's what I meant, I hope it's clearer now.
