Gen 1: Slowbro/Jynx
Slowbro because he has great typing in Water/Psychic and his stats are quite good, he is relatively easy to catch, and I love his design, how he is both goofy and intimidating with the angry Shellder biting its tail all at the same time.
Jynx because even as a kid I just wondered what the hell is this thing? It's like a Chinese bootlegger misinterpreting bad Dragon Ball Z fan art. A humanoid, blackface diva and totally out of place with most of the Gen 1 Pokemon.
Gen 2: Swinub/Unown
Swinub is my number one favorite 'mon, just fell in love with it since I was a kid, probably because it's simple/cute and Ice is an unappreciated type. I like how its eyes are always shut and it's just a mound of fur.
Unown because while it's somewhat a great idea to have these ancient Ruins with a mystery you have to crack by catching all types of a special Pokemon, in practice it's just tedious and boring to walk back and forth til you have the alphabet, and then how do you know what to do next? Besides being confused I remember just not liking how useless it is, a psychic type with one move and abysmal stats and most kids had no idea how Hidden Power worked. No one ever used the thing except for novelty and for good reason.
Gen 3: Swampert/Feebas
Sapphire was one of my first games and I chose Mudkip as my starter, naming it MUDY. So a Swampert named MUDY was my most beloved 'Mon.
Feebas: \Anyone else remember how nobody knew how the fuck to catch it? And all of the rumors...I get shivers just thinking about it. And in reality it wasn't that hard. But Milotic became more elusive and legendary than all of the legendary pokemon combined, because at least there you knew you would never see them except with a cheating device or very rare event. But with Feebas you knew theoretically there was a way to get it by legitimate means, but as to how...Too many hours spent surfing back and forth in that route to fathom.
