The point is defeating Articuno with type and stats advantage isn't an impressive feat.

Charizard couldn't even defeat Blaziken despite having advantage and Dusclops which isn't a legendary.

Charizard was Ash's ace and that Dusclops was defeated by a freaking Bulbasaur who got hit several times from fire and Psychic attacks but Charizard couldn't stand Will o Wisp or few Shadow Punches

When he fought Blaziken he didn't have any Flying type moves, and that was before fighting and beating articuno, and Dusclops was strong enough to weaken the Regi's enough to catch, and in the same universe Pikachu 1v1'd a Latios, who resisted electric.

The 9th episode was all about dispelling the myth that having a type advantage meant you automatically won. Then they dispelled the myth that evolution was a straight upgrade.
