Got a copy of Black a few days ago and been playing through it; right at the start of Pinwheel Forest so far. Are there any upcoming mons that'd be good to catch?
My team is currently composed of a Pignite, Pansage, and Tympole so far, all between the level 14-20 range if that helps any.

You can get Venipedes in Pinwheel forest which are cool, and just past Castelia you can grab Sandile. Pokemon variety is pretty low early on though, it doesn't really pick up til later. My main gripe with the first BW.

Krookodile wrecks shit too, although probably not as much as Excadrill does. Intimidate/Moxie are both great though

I have noticed the extensive amount of Purrloins, Patrats, and Lillipups used by trainers early on. It gets rather boring after a while.

Doesn't the Archen line have the Defeatist ability? If I feel like getting a rock or flying type, I'd rather not get one that gets crippled upon losing half its heath.

I don't know man, my team was made of literal shitters that I stuck with because I genuinely liked their designs, even if they sucked and made late-game a chore/challenge. They still pulled their weight and all, but they're nowhere near Excadrill tier, still loved these guys. They were Gurdurr, Swoobat, Leavanny, Zebstrika, and Krookodile.

Get Sigilyph
Unfezant's movepool is trash in BW
Swoobat's movepool is mostly trash in BW
Braviary and Mandibuzz aren't caught until late game unless there is a way to get them during some weekly event like B2W2 I can't remember

Sigilyph is an absolute bro in-game
You can also get Yamask at that point if you want a Ghost type. Someone else mentioned Axew who is a good team member and gotten well before Deino. I also like Sawsbuck because you'll get Stab Double-Edge or Take Down.

I used Sigilyph as my Flier. It may only have 58 Attack but that's the main EV among wild encounters so you get maximum investment without really even trying.
