Why yes, I played usum totally blind and faced ultra necrozma with a zoroark in my first slot, a fighting type in my sixth slot and a curse mimikyu in my party. Totally by luck.

How did everyone's fight with necrozma go? What was your team?
I lost the first time, like a lot of people did i assume. Blissey was the only one who could take a hit, so my plan was lead with Blissey, thunder wave it, and bank on it being fully paralyzed to Topsy Turvy with Malamar. Luckily that worked on the first try.

Sun and Moon is great - the region is lovely, the characters are interesting and well-written for Pokemon, the challenge is great and it actualy tried to innovate with totem Pokemon... the thing is, all the cuscenes were fucking tiring and exploration was retarded by all the characters stopping player ever few minutes and Rotomdex. Sun Moon had potential to be best Pokemon game ever, but the simple fuck ups made it unbearable and tiring to replay.
USUM on the other hand is total shit - i'm against third versions, but this one just bashed into actualy decent SM changes that were not needed.

I lost 10 times to the teacher in
the school who had a litten while I still only had my rowlette. The reason why was because I refused to grind or catch any other Pokémon yet so I just went full unga bunga until I won. Other than that I never wiped out.

It's not shit, he's just seething because what it added over the original was pretty minor and it also made the story worse.
But it's factually a more complete package with a larger regional dex, more side activities like Photo Club, and the whole ultra wormhole thing.
USUM is easily the best game of the 3D era.

It has less annoying cutscenes and some neat additions like Mantine surf and U-Necrozma, but on the other hand the plot got butchered and ruined, and the Ultra plotline was pretty mediocore and fucked up level curve badly.
Overall it depends what you want - more consistent story and level curve or more activities like exploring ultra wormholes and mantine surfing and making lewd photos with your Pokemon.
