What’s the point of Cloudbased Pokemon storage services like Pokebank and Pokemon Home?

What’s the point of transferring your old Pokémon to newer games? I don’t get it. Wouldn’t it be simpler to re-catch and train the old mons that are available in the new games even if they’re not the same?

The transfer process has always been a scam to create artificial need for these sevices, they can easily justmake you connect your 3ds to the switch and send your pokemon right away. They did it for the wii with the DS and they have the same amiibo functionality on 3ds as they do on switch.

There is no point. It's a trojan horse so they can justify charging you 8-20 dollars a year just to make a (more often than not) one time transfer.

Old faves, cementality, competitive pokemon they don't feel like training all over again, pokemon they bred for a challenge run, rare event pokemon you can't really get anymore, etc.

Completing the national dex in gen 4/6 is easier if you transfer, and completing the national dex in gen 5 is impossible if you dont transfer.

I'd rather keep my old Pokemon than just train up new ones. New ones aren't gonna have the same sentimental stuff like the memories I've put in over the years.

I don't care if I can get stuff better IVs or natures, new stuff isn't going to be the same.

NFC readers don't have any bearing on what you're complaung about. 3DS was a dinosaur compared to the Switch, likely wasn't worth their time and effort to try and get it talking to it, they already worked miracles to get Gen VII running on OG 3DS's after all.

Nobody utilises the feature and very few people actually want to transfer old mons to newer games. Most of the people who care about this shit are competitive players, hence their opinion shouldn't be taken seriously. The whole outrage about no national dex was entirely fabricated because 99% of players only ever bother with the mon they find along their journey through the game, hence a regional dex is the only thing that matters. GF are expected to add a load of content to the game to appease a fraction of the fanbase, hence they charge for pokebank because they're trying to milk the hardcore whales.

Also in ORAS you get some shitty rewards for bringing up mons from the original RSE. If they did cooler stuff like that itd be better

No they fucking didn't, they are just incompetent, Monster hunter and FE Echoes work well on the original 3ds and they even got fucking Hyrule Warriors to work on it, it looks like shit but guess what ? It runs better than Pokémon

Yeah, Mints are a great addition. They do exactly what I was hoping for after Bottle Caps.

I still have my old starter Charizard from my first Fire Red playthrough. Its nature was Rash. Looking forward to getting mints for him and others.

I love getting Ribbons with all my Pokemon. Its fun for me to work on getting all the Ribbons on my Pokemon.
The Pikachu is my only one with contest Ribbons because I never found them fun, but I made sure to get all other Ribbons on every one of my Pokemon I carry over each game.

Thats why just rebreeding doesn't feel the same. Doesn't have he same memories.
