I would say that about 90% of the times that I had played through Kanto I picked Bulbasaur because back then I was an edgy contrarian and whereas everyone either had the cool fire dragon or the badass water canon turtle, I had the warts frog plant. It eventually grew a little bit on me, but I would never actually use it to this day if there are other options. As a positive, it always felt good how easy it made the game progression. Whereas my classmates had to grind for a few minutes, the early game was a breezee for me. The Bulbasaur line is definently the comfortable choice that makes the game easy. Other than that, as far as I'm concerned Turtwig,Grotle,Torterra>Bulbasaur,Ivysaur,Venusaur in every way.
