It's not Australia, sadly.

The region is actually based on Greece.

Starters:

Its Signiture Move is Aqua Spear, it strikes the enemy with its tentacles, critical hits are more easily landable, Steel Type Move.

>Grass/Dark Lion (males have a red rose main for normal and white for shiny) Signiture Move is an attack where it stalks the shadows and pounces to Maul the opponent. Dark Type Move.

>The Gym Leaders and E4 make up the Council of 12, the final E4 member being Zeus.

>E4 are on top of a mountain based on Mt. Olympus, a victory road is before it.

>The champion is based off Achelies.

>New Spartan Pokemon of Steel/Fighting, the final of the 3 stage evolution line is based of Leonidas.

>Cyclops based Pokemon of Fighting/Ground typing and one of the box legends.

>Chimera based Pokemon of Dragon/Poison typing and is the other box legend.

>Trio Master is based an

>Titans also make an appearance in lore, legends and as catchable Pokemon.

>Lucario is revealed to come from another region originally, as this region and a upcoming region has a deep connection in lore, the original form is a three stage Pseudo Legendary, based off of Anubis, becoming Fighting/Dark, which is in this game as post game trade for the known Riolu, not only does it learn Aura Sphere, but learns a new Dark Type Move too.

>Skarmory gets a pre-evolution and Evolution, from pure Flying->Steel/Flying and keeps its Steel/Flying typing to look like the legendary armoured bird of Greek Legends.

The reason is not enough to go on to make anything, Australia is too simple and everything would be Poison or Fighting, the Fire Type Starter was looked at to be a Fire/Fighting Kangaroo, and no one wants a Fire/Fighting again, as they previously developed a Fire/Poison snake and don't want to make it a Starter and add one last evolution to it, as they already developed a Fire/Dragon snake for an Indian based region.
