Why did Lance try to block Thunder Punch with Aqua Tail instead of using Hyper Beam? That Charizard was moving in a straight line towards Gyarados and was instructed to use Thunder Punch consecutively.

I don't think it's disappointing. Lance had the upper hand before dynamaxing and only after that he got blasted. If you think about it, Leon was able to take the win because he had more experience about a phenomenon that happens only on his native region.

Take him out of Galar and he would have lost.
