>>42712145I want to believe that Sylveon represents fairies and not trannies. But:
>87.5% male >>42714851>Trans rights flag colors>Shiny (which is the speshul-snowflake version of a normal pokemon) is STILL trans rights flag colors, but inverted and even more obvious>Came out at a time when LGBTQ rights were considered trendy, rather than beforehand when it would have been brave or daring (just like a lot of transitional people, sadly)>Hence, lots of people pressure Eevee into evolving into a Sylveon because it is the trendy/progressive answer and/or key to Pokedex completion, rather than what is the right answer for that individual Eevee>Hinted at in the Pokedex that its ribbons are deceptively dangerous, even though its overall design is intended to be endearing and get the opponent to lower their guard (a trap, and/or a personality disorder)>Special snowflake name scheme, “Sylv,” without any direct connection to a fae or fairy mythos, and too similar to a Deviantart sparkledog for mere coincidence>Has the largest in-game model of all the Eeveelutions, despite representing 1/7th of them; a loud minority, if you willI like Sylveon’s design, and I like some trans people; but going through a gender transition is a big deal with a lot of risks, which somehow became politicized into “just some thing people do with no repercussions, LOL, but you also have to LOVE AND TOLERATE us, or YOU’RE LE PRIVILEGED CIS TRASH.”
Sylveon almost seems like too much of what people like me, who kinda mock trannies for doing something like that for a lot of the wrong reasons, would expect of a tranny Pokemon. It’s the only Eeveelution to get a whole gen to itself, and is too flamboyant, too noxious to be the kind of hero a transitioning person should look up to, but IS the kind of thing a transitioning person looks up to when they’re using a life-altering surgery for the wrong reasons to accomplish what they could get out of an IV-infusion of attention.
