Gen 8 is only setting up retcons like with pic related so gen 9 can completly reboot old mons/lore to nu-poke standards
It's gonna be about a decade until Let's Go Hoenn comes out and until then GF will try to erase the original zigzagoon as much as possible to turn it and other originals into a new selling point for nostalgiafags

The Pokedex and official sources explicitly say Galarian Zigzagoon is the oldest variety but it's only found in Galar.
All Zigzagoon elsewhere are their Normal type variant.

So basically it still exists and isn’t retconned. Every time I hear “retcon” I see people force it down as the original just being “forgotten” or never reappearing in any shape or form. Which that clearly shows isn’t the case at least. But on the flip side that is a weird change, the Hoenn variant should’ve stayed the “normal” one.

They made a big deal out of Corphish not being native to Hoenn. So it makes literally no sense that suddenly more species are also not native to it.

The reason I felt this doesn't make sense is why would a badger become a straight up Tanooki and lose an evolution? Also the fact they say things like Liepard are why it was so aggressive to protect itself, if this was the case, why don't galarian Zigzagoon-Obstagoon show up in Unova? A region with quite a few dark types which mind you are in the Galar dex, the fact that it's based on something generally more american then british and the fact that Unova and Galar sound very damn similar just like the east coast of the US vs the UK. Like what makes Unova any different when most of it's dark types are the same ones that made Galarian Zigzagoon in the first place?
