Yeah but that doesn't make the game fun to play. Imagine a Pokemon game where you can't save because you only live once and you have a chance of breaking your legs and cutting your movement speed by 90% every time to jump down a ledge. That would be even more realistic.

Agreed. Not just in pokemon but many other games on console and pc so a really shit job with darkness and night that you likely will need to turn the game brightness maxed to make it actually playable. I don’t have any idea how most dark and night scenes in gaming make it past play testers

actually its not enjoyable since you cant see, this gameplay is mostly luck a eyesight system is not implemented there

It's funny because SM had separate cycles for the sake of helping people who tend to play at night but then didn't keep this mechanic in the next games.

I would enjoy it more if it wasn't tied to the actual time, like many RPGs do and let you rest till nighttime or sleep to next morning, or make it cycles of 1-2 hs. That way it would actually affect people in some way.

Any game that's more than about 15 years old was made for CRTs, which have a much broader range of blacks they can display. Because of this the games display darkness as much darker than modern screens can handle and it just kind of looks like nothing.
