I don't have any screenies, but when I made my minecraft pixelmon region, the routes were designed into 2 stacked route types: border & no border. by staying in-border, you're forced to play with the region's regional dex pokemon, as those are the only pokemon that'll show up in the bordered routes. there are barrier blocks on the limits of the route.
the non-restricted routes are unlocked after you beat the champion. now, all of the barrier blocks keeping you in the routes are removed, allowing you to truly explore the wilderness of my region. also, the wild encounters beyond the border routes are any pokemon at complete random. this will make national dex not only fun but also possible. I'm still working on organizing non-restricted routes' pokemon assigned so that there's reliable ways to find specific pokemon, as well as encouraging players to explore the different expanded routes.
