The big issue here is that you are wrong and you can't beat the game by just spamming your attacks. You couldn't beat the original game by just spamming your attacks, and this change in the remake still does not change the fact that you can't beat the game just by spamming your attacks. This change does not negate the need for strategy and thinking ahead.
And yet you claim that this new feature makes the game "play itself", while at the same time claiming that strategy was never needed in the original. If you could beat the original just by button mashing essentially, then what difference does it make if instead of mashing the attack button, the game's attacking for you?
Except that isn't happening in the remake, and that didn't happen in the original, because in both games, simply spamming attacks is not enough. All that this change does is eliminate the need to go through a menu, and going through menus is not fucking difficulty.
