They ported ORAS to Switch, which is where the "Stars" rumour came from and used that to build LGPE. Then as it's Game Freak, didn't bother removing the port from the code.

Dataminers found "omega_nx" and "alpha_nx" dex references in Home.
Doesn't prove anything but honestly an ORAS port with a few improvements would be an easy way to both get the yearly Pokemon release in and generate a bit of goodwill by bringing back the Battle Frontier.

They need to convince people to double-down somehow.
Since the actual game is already made and just needs new pokemon added, revised movesets, and the actual technical job of porting, that leaves the art and design teams more or less free to add postgame content.

The Switch was originally going to be called Nintendo NX, so there you have it

Please, if you are larping please stop, this isn't amusing. There is probably going to be no ports for the 3DS games, the closest I can see won't be a remake. Why port a Hoenn game that's 6 years old instead of just releasing a port for one of the other shitty 3DS titles?
Considering how old people are on here I'd expect more of them to be seeing this with more cynicism than the optimism you are leaking.

Why bother to make a port of one of the weaker remakes? Like everyone pretty much considers ORAS a weaker game overall, and GF aren't the types of people to finish or make something better considering their track record has said otherwise for over 10 years.

If I had to guess, I'd say they want to do a port of XY that actually finishes the story, but doing that would require a budget, so they're testing the waters with a low-budget ORAS port.
I agree it's a strange choice and I certainly don't think it's a sure thing, but I don't think those strings would be there unless they, at some point in time, actually intended to release ORAS on Switch.

That's a silly question, anon. Dataminers found mythicals on release for past gens but that never stopped them from drip-feeding the announcements.
Plus, a planned "leak" can actually build hype if it comes just before the official announcement.

Personally I wouldn't be interested if it was just a straight port with no changes, but if they add either the battle frontier OR the gen 8 natdex then I'll shamelessly double-dip.
I think if it's going to happen, it'll be announced on Pokemon Day. Next year will either be Let's Go Johto or Sinnoh remakes so an ORAS port would have to come out this year.

Not at all? "Hoenn Confirmed" was a meme for like five years. Do you remember what the board was like the day Hoenn was actually confirmed? Like, yeah, at the time everyone wasn't jaded; Pokemon had only had one bad game, instead of six consecutive ones, but still I don't think the fact it's gen 3 would anger anyone.

I don't really remember what gen 6 was like but I was here for gen 5 hype and it's probably the most fun I ever had on 4chan.

Oh we still had gen wars. In fact at the time the board had a ton of unironic genwunners; this image is from back then and variants of it would get posted almost daily.
But at the time the games had consistently improved with each release and no major features were removed, apart from contests in BW but at least those were replaced with musicals. As a result, people were way more optimistic about the franchise's future.
