>>42742613>um actuallyI brought 1 other um actually up in my first post. And also the very relevant hidden power.>the problemI'm not saying they aren't archaic or otherwise underutilised, in fact i specifically say we need more reasons to run awkward sets. But I, as a non-compfag, especially in a world where hypertraining exists(existed? i haven't played swsh), really think that they are better than nothing. The mechanical downsides of the IVs are miniscule enough to rarely matter in a singleplayer game, but on the offchance you catch two, between natures, personality things, and the varying stats, it really does convey that idea that these two creatures aren't the same.
>EVsAgain, you're looking at it from the perspective of optimisation. Something that a large chunk of the fanbase gives just as little of a shit about as you do my autistic immersion.
There are plenty of mechanics i wish didn't affect battle. IVs could be replaced with a set of personality values that influence poffin stuff and the fastest method to bolster affection. Speaking of affection i wish its effects were out of battle like getting a passive pickup (i know it doesn't affect versus battles but it the exp boots and crits do fuck up single player).
