anyway got 44 packs, do I rip em open or keep them? Zacian V seems to be going for 35 packs and I want to make a Zacian deck but it seems mathematically impossible atm

Does anyone have any recommendations/ideas for this deck? It seems alright so far, also I'm going first but not sure if I should, at least I dont have any attacks I could use on the first turn, I had the Lapras which does 20 + 20 to bench with 1 W but swapped it for something as I never used it.

I pretty much ideally want to get 2x Sobble + Snom on the bench turn 1 and turn 2 evolve sobble to drizzile and search rare candy/evolution incense/Inteleon if I have one of these in my hand as then I can search for 2 more trainers by evolving to Inteleon and get Frosmoth into play if needed or maybe switch + supporter etc.

The numbers feel pretty good but also tweakable, I could prolly do with 1 less Inteleon line and then I would have 3 slots open for whatever could be good. Its also really easy to deck trainers in the deck as I can just search them with Shady Dealings extremely easily.

Also recommendations in general for everything, since I just returned to the game after 1 year break, I dont even know all the trainers in the game rn etc.
I looked up most of the water pokemon options but maybe not all and I have no idea if there are some non water Pokemon that would fit the deck, though I do have few other Inteleon variants with crap like Nidoqueen (well its pretty much Nidoqueen deck, not Inteleon) and one with Rampardos + Super Boost energy that I havent tried out too much yet.

Also updated deck in the pic, felt like I could use non GX gusting for normal and V Pokemon, didn't feel like having only 1 per game so instead of 3 customs I have 2 + 1 great catcher, not the most consistent option to pull of but its there. Removed the Grimsley and few Professors for few more Marnies too as I felt that I def needed more than 1. And also swapped the 2nd poke com for 4th Evo incense, dunno why I had 3 + 2 in the first place, maybe because back then I didnt have 4 Incenses lol.

If you need basics in hand badly, and you want to go first, I'd focus on item-based searchers. Great Ball, PokeNav, and maybe more PokeComs are the only fit for that that you lack. As such you want to have a lot of Adventure Bags and Acro Bikes to get to those items.

But yeah maybe I could use more items, I could maybe cut 1x Rosa and 1x Marnie, or maybe even one Inteleon line, not too sure really. btw. I am 10-3 atm. with this deck in the ladder, I could be underestimating the RNG in this game too, maybe this is fine.
Anyway I just cut 1 Marnie for another Poke Com for now.

Yeah, that's on me. When it comes to card text I still mix up trainers, tools, and items a lot. Made me think the Rotoms were better than they are.
I'd definitely keep testing if you're having majority success. If you have a good idea of your weaknesses then it's easier to make changes.

It's kinda funny that the TCG made "ability that disables other abilities" a recurring motif for the other 2 pollution Pokemon, only for Game Freak to make that Weezing's signature ability in the video games.

Its great, I play VGC as well and its really fun addition but hundred times more difficult to use that in TCG, because unlike in TCG, every Pokemon in VGC has ability and 99% of them are positive so you have to play around disabling your own abilities as well.

I'm not sure what your Walmart is like but mine puts all the TCG shit at the front next to self-checkout. And if not there I've seen them go up in the toy section with the other games.
Overall I blame the slowness on GEN VIII being shit and Pokemon Home launching.

Ditto is great. I use him in my Caturday deck, but you're limited to one copy.
In terms of Inteleon techs I could also point you toward Phione for the escape rope effect.
It never hurts just to use the app to filter for every standard-legal basic Pokemon with an ability.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the target of the item/supporter. Things like Escape Rope or Guzma target the active, so Galvantula would be unaffected; Catcher and Lysandre target your opponent's benched pokemon so if Galvantula is active the latter two should work? Worth double checking though, I haven't played in a while.

Ask in a week or two when the metagame settles, there was a major rule change along with a new set.
It's fundamentally a good card game, but they can't maintain a balanced format/card pool for anything.
It's still popular and gets views, not that that should be the sign of a good game.

TCG products are always prime targets for theft so they always have them near checkouts where employees always have a eye on them. They're still always big sellers though. My store goes through a display of Pokemon cards for a new set in like under a week.

get rid of Linone, you should always aim for getting basic/rare candy and evolution in hand,

Just look for whichever set has the highly valued cards right now, like Burning Shadows with the rainbow rare Charizard GX or Hidden Fates with the Shiny Charizard GX (you can't buy booster boxes of HF though).

I'd run either baby Blastoise or frosmoth, not both.

I actually prefer babystoise since it synergizes best with Blastoise GX since the energies are recycled back into the deck.

I use both to get numbers big enough to KO tag teams or Pokemon V. Much harder get those numbers to with just baby Blastoise. I may try just frosmoth at some point though

Youtubers opening packs and idiots like you thinking they can make money off of buying old stock has created a bubble that will burst as soon as the pack opening becomes less of a draw. Give it a couple of months at most and it will fall through the floor. Cards are not good investments.

Why do you guys play this game? I tried to get into it but it's incredibly dull. It's broken by design and has very little interaction. You just sit there as your opponent draws a bunch of shit and either sweeps your team or you can get a counter up and sweep theirs. There's almost no interaction beyond putting damage on something. Which got made even worse by GX, EX and tags having such high HP counts and high damage numbers that invalidated almost everything else. I know kids love opening those cards so they aren't going any where, but the game feels very stagnant with no room for growth.

Follow-up: I've tested a few games and I've been enjoying it. Mulligan'd a couple more times than I wanted to but otherwise it's consistent to get going. I lost to Melmetal/Zacian by a hair because I ran out of Espurrs and he walled himself up in time.

And Vmax looks to be an even more broken version of the previous gimmicks. So now they made the numbers even higher and think losing 3 prizes is a reasonable cost to have something that's going to require sacrificing at least 10 cards to get rid of it short while only costing 5.

This is the worst designed card in the game right now. If you're running a single prize attacker deck and this GX attack goes off with the added effect you should just save yourself the hassle and just pick your cards up and walk away.

The problem has never been weaknesses being jank, the problem has been every format one or two types totally flop due to droughts in support while the types they're supposed to check get everything. A big reason fire has been so dominant is water was awful, and because water was awful grass and steel had no possible way to thrive. If the T1 supporter rule didn't exist I guarantee you Zacian would not be as good since he'd get slaughtered by any handful of Welder decks.

Unlike yugioh, Pokemon precons are fairly playable right out of the box. While the card ratios and overall power level aren't indicative of the meta playing sealed is nice enough to dip a toe in and see if you like the gameplay.
I mostly play online so I couldn't give you the price on a viable deck, but the meta at the moment is Reshriam/Charizard, Arceus/Dialga/Palkia, and Zacian steel wall, with Stojourner on the rise.

Theme decks are terrible, their only saving grace being staples like Cynthia. As far as I know, the only company that makes slightly competent starter decks is Bushiroad (Weiss Schwarz, Buddyfight, Weiss, etc).

Yugioh has some fucking ace structure decks. The one that dropped yesterday has insane staples in it and sometimes if you buy 3 you only need staples and some extra cards to make a full on rogue deck.
Not heard much good about theme decks.

The combo Intelion pull with the VMAX, i'm actually really looking forward to building an Intelion VMAX deck, the energy denial on that deck when combo'd with Team Yell Grunt is going to be a new type of annoying.
The drawback with these pulls is that the Intelion is part of a theme deck.
got a few nice evo combos stacks with he vulpix, arcanine, and aegislash, but i'm not sure how usefull they will be.
secret rare dogoo, as well as a regular doggo.
i r8 the pulls 7/10
I will be buying singles of the Intelion line once it's out in US. really stoked to try out a Intellion vmax, team yell grunt, crushing hammer ANNOYING af deck.

You can fight power creep by expanding design space.

The problem is where Magic expanded with new card types, and Yugioh delved into new summoning conditions, Pokemon stayed relatively the same.

Pokemon still has the same basic card types as when the game started, with a few minimal changes. VMax function basically the same as GX, which are functionally the same as EX, or Lv. X. The difference isn't really there minus a small change in prize cards, or a one shot move.

That kind of change is nowhere near as drastic as when Wizards made Planeswalkers, or transforming flip cards. Or even when Yugioh debuted pendulums.

As an example in Yugioh currently every single type of monster has some level of viability, especially with the new master rule, XYZ didn't invalidate synchros or fusions, they offered a different solution to the problem of winning the game.

Not what I was trying to say at all, I was talking purely on card super-type design.

MTG has filler by design because of it's obsession with draft and sealed.

Konami has been putting dog shit into packs since LOB and Metal Raiders.

But I guess you never had any intention of actually reading my post. EX, GX, and VMAX Pokemon all accomplish the same thing in the same way.

High risk, high reward gameplay, and its accomplished by Pokemon's linear method of playing out its Pokemon cards. By the same token, Breaks, Lv.Xs, and Megas were the same format as well. They just aren't meaningfully different.

Imagine if Pokemon added a Trainer super-type that could be played and function as a permanent like how the field spells do. Maybe work in more in depth level up mechanic.

Because right now they're shackled to just plainly adapting Gamefreak's next transformation gimmick and jacking up HP numbers.

This Frogs list is pre SWSH format so you can play Expanded tournaments with it.

If you are still lurking here, I will look into the other Greninja builds later, was planning on doing that anyway since Greninja is one of my favorite Pokemons and the cards happen to be really fun always too.

Also Pokemon communication, Quick Ball, Evosoda etc.

Say you get 1x Nidoran and 2x Sobble out turn 1, then next turn you have Drizzile + Evosoda, you can use Drizziles ability to search for rare candy, then evolve Inteleon and search for 2 more trainers, maybe a rare candy and evosoda to get the Nidoqueen out if you have supporter in hand etc. its not uncommon at all to get bench full + 3x stage 2's on turn 2, seriously just try it before you judge it, stage 2 decks aren't shit like they to used to be anymore, at least the ones with Inteleon.

Also I'm playing this deck with Green's now to get it going even more consistantly and faster.

I dont think Greninja GX alone is good at all, personally I would rather play the Evasion Jutsu Greninja and pray to flip heads, but if you want to play the GX, here is something I came up with, its pretty much just a fun deck though.

Use Green's in turn 1 and turn 2 to get as many Pokemon out as possible, make sure to use green before you evolve into Drizzile though.

It's just a modified version of what I was testing before, going to test this one now as well.

As much as I wished this was the case I really don't think it's that simple. I seriously don't think there's that much supply for all these old booster boxes to really warrant such a "bubble market" scenario. Old sealed products in most TCG's will always grow in value just because of the simple fact that supply is always decreasing. That being said, some gen 3 - 5 sealed products are seriously overvalued.
I honestly believe the whole PSA graded card market is a bigger bubble. Like you legit have people grading brand new fucking cards that anyone can go out to a store and pull just because retards will buy them for "investments". I feel like in a couple of years there's either going to be a shitton of cards in plastic cases on ebay or people are going to free them from their prisons once they realize their PSA 8 reverse-foil Squirtle from Crystal Guardians probably isn't worth $50 to most people.

Exactly why some sniping is nice, you can up it to 220+ with a combination of Vitality Band and the Galarian Obstagoon at least to ko Zacian and you also do pretty damn well against other single prize attacker decks. The Oranguru sounds good though, I'll check it out.

I remember getting excited with my first Cosmic Eclipse booster box and pulling like 8 character art cards, then going on tcgplayer and seeing I could buy all of them for a dollar each.

Yeah I was honestly surprised the Wishiwashi secret was so cheap. I was expecting it to be way more considering how gorgeous the art is but I guess people are going for higher rarity (not quite sure on the exact pull rates of secrets) cards that honestly just look gaudy to me.

Guys whats the strongest budget deck for the new format in your opinion? I'd say Obstagoon with Yveltal GX and Sableye possibly, or Cinccino Mill but idk if thats even a budget deck, also neither is Obstagoon if you are using Jirachi, that thing is not cheap...

And yeah Inteleon Nidoqueen is pretty strong too but I wasn't too convinced yet, Obstagoon seemed better because it just walls everything but people might start to prepare for it so it might get worse fast. Though I haven't tried that exacty Nidoqueen list yet, gonna have to give it a try, thanks for the link there was some good shit there.

Pokemon TCG's quality control is sorta shit. I've pulled multiple basic energy cards from the same booster, and had cards upside down/backwards in packs before.

I doubt they'd give you a refund sadly. Maybe if you complained directly to TPCi they'll send you a new pack or something.

My first ever irl tournament deck will be Nidoqueen + Inteleon lol, just deciding between few different variations of the deck now. (Elm or no Elm, Shrine or other ways to boost dmg etc.)

Anyone else here have some experience on Nidoqueen deck with Inteleon? Pic related is very solid but I dont like Shrines at all now as people are playing Chaotic Swell and a lot of Pokemon V instead of GX.

I had the same thing happen to me with a few cosmic eclipse packs I bought from a Walmart, and I was able to get replacement packs from TPCi. Just contact support and they should be able to help

Spell Tag can work in a Nidoqueen deck too. Even though Shrine doesn't affect V Pokemon, you still oneshot them anyways (unless they're VMaxed, but even then Shrine wouldn't have helped).

Do you mostly go second with this deck and try to hit a big attack right away? Or does it depend on the matchup? I'm a returning player online and also about to make my first ever irl deck for 2 upcoming cups and am just trying to learn as much as possible before the tournaments, I'm still a bit confused about which decks wants to go first and which doesn't etc. though I guess it depends on the matchup sometimes.

We didn't play using SSH rules yet as the cards aren't legal until Friday, but I went 1st all 3 rounds, mainly to put up GXs in the discard by either Giant Hearth, Dedenne, or Guzma & Hala (used this to get a Weakness (mirror) or rainbow).
I'd say SSH MewMew needs to go first to set up Malamar

Just recently got back into ptcgo and grinding theme events since my standard decks have rotated.
I have these packs, other than SwSh packs are any of them worth trading into SwSh packs to trade up for Zacian deck cards?

It took a while but here, go first turn-1 and try to get Aerodactyls and few Froakies up, turn 2 ideally you attack with Aerodactyl while sniping with frogs and turn 3 ideally you attack again with aerodactyl while you evolve into Greninja for more sniping and then use devolve spray so your attack wont get halved.

This deck has quite a bit of potential to be very nice "budget deck", if only Jirachi was cheaper, luckily I have few pre-release promos so might try to build this for irl tourney.

you use Pokemon Research lab to get 2 Aerodactyls on the field and it ends your turn so ideally you do it turn-1 while going first, this way you can often start hitting 180 on turn 2.
