I'm not retarded am I? Why isn't Powder usable? I know dug ain't fire but that don't matter, and I've checked in like 7 different areas and couldn't use it in doubles against a buddy earlier using a cinderace with blaze. I worked hard to get this stupid bitch in a beast ball in USUM for a silly doubles team too. Is gamefreak just this bad or am I the idiot

This is what it got. Focus sash was for last minute speed swap to a bewear because it's funny to see him double edge things. That was the whole point of Powder, to defend against easy fire slaps. I know it's not smogon optimal garbage but I'm pretty disappointed the move doesn't seem to be usable at all.

Not hacked, but I had to breed it in USUM. Couldn't even hatch it in gen 8 with Powder. Powder doesn't seem to act as an egg move in Gen 8 so it wouldn't pass even with both parents with it. Only vivillion can learn it naturally and only ribombee has it as an egg move so I guess I see why. Almost feels like they just forgot about it entirely.

Some moves aren't in the game, but they aren't deleted from the pokemon in case they return in the future. They cannot be used and are greyed out in the menu.

Heavy rain is not normal rain. The reason Powder doesn't do damage in heavy rain is because heavy rain prevents any Fire type moves from working.

Anyway there can be no normal explanation for this, since the move is not selectable at all. Usually if there was something preventing the move from working, it would just fail in battle, you wouldn't be prevented from selecting it at all. Or it would let you know why you can't use it.

Move pools changed which does the same thing. It's why Toxic still exists but unless you have it natively in Galar you can't use it.

So does HOME not prevent illegal movesets if the entire set is in the game, it just fucks you over once you get in the game? I know it marks removed moves, but Powder is definitely in the game. It's got the description. Makes me feel like they just have the placeholder, but no effect.

It seems like they screwed up. Powder was not technically snapped, but this may be an oversight that was not caught by GF, and therefore, wasn't caught by the dataminers either. It's possible that it has something to do with Vivillon not being in the game, and Ribombee only learning the move as an egg move in USUM.

That's what I think. Which is super disappointing but I mean that's been this gen as a whole. I hope it's noticed and fixed soon, because powder ribombee is definitely legal now, despite it not being the most ideal set. I think it's a fun surprise.

The other interesting part is that it has a full description of the move too. It's not that "This move is not usable. It is advised to forget this move, and you will not be able to relearn it" from outright removed moves.

Powder, mechanically, was scrubbed. However, it doesn't have the same text as the other scrubbed moves. I'm guessing they wanted to patch the move back in by the time Home released, but forgot.
