When I torrented pokemon sword, I didn't take any precautions to prevent myself from being tracked. Today my Internet randomly went down, which turned out to be because of a copyright infringement charge from downloading Pokemon Sword.nsp. I called my ISP and I'm not permanently banned or being sued, but my Internet is going to be temporarily suspended for a day as punishment. Thanks, TPC.

When I was a kid one of my mom's friends came over to visit with her kids. Her son stayed in my room and we got along decently. One day, I go to get Pokémon Pearl so I can play it and notice it's missing, so I check the kid's backpack and there it is. I retrieve it and hide it along with my other games until he's gone. I don't say anything about it because the kid's dad had just killed himself, that's the reason for the visit, and I don't wanna start shit that I know will be shot down as "petty". Except this motherfucker steals it again. I wish I could say I confronted him and fucked him up for it, but by the time I noticed they had left. Nigger didn't steal anything else, just Pearl, where I had boxes upon boxes of level 100 mons. Never trained as many mons after that day. Fuck that guy.

I was really into the TCG in the old days. I noticed some cards had a "1st edition" stamp on them, so I decided to collect a complete 1st edition base set with all holofoils. Nobody cared about the little stamps so they were happy to trade with me. A new kid shows up at Pokemon league and asks to see my binder. We were a trusting lot that swapped binders all the time when trading, so I went to use the bathroom while the new kid looked. Five minutes later he's being escorted out of the store. He's a thief. I run to catch him but see him and his mom drive off. I check my binder: He stole every single rare and holo, all first edition. The league changed forever because of one asshole: we no longer trusted others. He'd stolen from over half of us. It was like a shroud over us. Hundreds of dollars of cards lost to one fucking kid and we could do nothing to fix it.

It's a little more complicated... I was trying to keep it brief.
Technically only one kid got their cards back: the first one he'd stolen from who had noticed their charizard was missing and told the store manager but NOT the pokemon league leader! The manager called the thief aside and talked to him. The kid who reported the missing card got his charizard back, but the Thief claimed the rest of the stolen cards were all his.

The thief's mom was in the store at the time so the thief was escorted out FAST by the manager and his mom. There was little to no time to react.

As soon as the league runner found out she told us all to check our binders and she went to the manager demanding the kid and his mom's name and contact info. I had a bad feeling so I tried to chase the kid instead of checking my binder. As I ran for the door I passed the league leader fighting with the manager who was either not complying or didn't know a thing. It was a clusterfuck.

And as I exited the store I saw the little bastard in his mom's car driving away, mom yelling at him. He was smiling.

We were told the thief was banned from the store so I there was no chance of seeing him again. We were all fucked. We never saw them again nor did any of us get our cards back. He had even gone so far as grabbing unattended decks and binders and stealing from those as well. He started with unattended stuff before asking to "look" at attended things. It's how he stole from so many of us so fast.

Before stores knew Pokemon cards were valuable, they would dump boxes and boxes of loose packs into a shelf right by the garden center exit.
Middle school little shits (my friend and I) would walk home from school, go into the store, load our backpacks FULL of packs, and walk out the side exit. No repercussions.

I've downloaded USUM with no problems. The specific torrent I used for Sword was one of the earliest ones that got leaked from r/SwitchNSPs. I know TPC became aware of it because I remember it got taken down for copyright at some point. I think I happened to be one of the unlucky IPs they chose to file copyright complaints to.

Back when miiverse was a thing I noticed a lot of shiny giveaways on the xy tab. So, I posted that it was my birthday and I wanted to run a giveaway, but, I only had 1 shiny to give away, so if people could donate their shinies to me, I could do a big giveaway.
Sounds retarded and like nobody would fall for it, but it was like all 7-12 year olds on there and I ended up getting five shinies before I deleted the post and ran away with them, never to go on miiverse again.

I was a 12 year old kid and it was the 90's. Back then when some random kid calls the cops and goes "someone stole my pokemon cards!" you know the cops were going to just laugh it off. We got into fights and did stupid shit all the time and the cops did NOTHING. It was a different era.

There's the chance the manager really didn't know anything, too.

I'd like to think the league leader tried to do these things. She seemed flustered for weeks afterwards, so I hope she really tried.

I was a Pokemon card kid in the 90's too anon, the US is a 3rd world country in some aspects.

I guess here's my semi-related story. I was a smart kid, I collected all the first edition Charizards because I heard they'd be worth more later. I got like 15 of them, I was so happy.. later it dawned on me that these were the Dutch language versions, and that only the original Japanese and English version were worth a shit.

I was the one everyone hated battling against because I actually spent time scouting for decent mons and refused to ever use a legendary/mythical/ect. I was proud to be able to destroy my opponents mons and traded my cast-offs like candy to fill out my dex. Until hackers and dupers hit my area I was basically god. Now I'm an injectbro. I bought a used copy of pokemon x. When I turned it on the previous file had over 100 hours of play time, several level 100 pokemon, mythical pokemon, and even a shiny. I know it’s my game now and I’ll never find the previous owner, but I just can’t bring myself to delete the file or take the pokemon that are in it. I mean it could be someone’s childhood, I can’t just steal the pokemon right?

That’s what’s fucking me up, I don’t know. I bought it at GameStop, so no contact with the previous owner. There were weird things too. The player’s location was listed as the state of Georgia (probably a 10 hour drive from where I am). That’s possible but there was only the used copy of x to buy at the store. Why would you care enough to buy both games, spend 100 hours on them, and then sell them to GameStop for maybe 10 dollars tops. I don’t know, I can’t shake the feeling that they lost it while traveling and the person who found it just thought to sell it for an easy buck. Maybe I’m just crazy

When I bought ORAS/Y I spent over 300 hours on it, I had shinies, legendaries, competitive pokemons, etc, once I got bored of it I just sold it, whoever owned the game before probably just got bored too, I wouldn't think about it too much if I were you
Also, a while ago I bought a copy of UM used that I'm pretty sure was stolen, it had only been played for an hour and the boxes were full to the brim with shinies, event pokemons (some from WIN2011), etc, they were all transferred from different regions too, hoenn, johto, sinnoh, unova even, I'm pretty sure this dude transferred all this mons then lost/got their copy stolen from them

When I replayed Ruby I didn't know how to properly delete save data so I just started a regular new game and ignored the message the game gives you. I only discovered you can't safe after beating the 1st gym and I didn't want to get through the beginning again so I just stormed through the game across 2 days. I left my GBA at the charger overnight with the volume all the way down.
In hindsight I have no idea how it didn't blow up on me
