Zoom-zoom-zoom. They were a fantastic idea, fucked up majorly the minute they gave already-powerful pokémon a mega form instead of limiting it specifically to the shitmons that needed a severe buff.

At least they attempted the fix this with ORAS by giving it to weaker and outclassed mons like Pidgeot, Beedrill, Audino, the other two starters, Sharpedo and more I can’t think of. The problem was they decided to drop the idea for an entirely new gimmick which is a shame.

Fuck off zoomer, they did it to sell shit, just like the Z-moves were used to sell shit and the Dynamax shit will be used to sell shit in Gen VIII. At least Z-Moves could actually be used by every pokémon available in-game, same as Dyanamax unlike megas.

say what you will about the individual strengths of each mega, more shitmons got megas than non-shitmons. i don't think they "fucked up majorly", they gave popular pokemon megas in order to sell the idea, but also buffed lots of shitmons in the process.

plenty of shitmon megas are better than "equally as useless as before". sure they're lower than mega mence and mega gengar, but they're not total garbage. in vgc 2018, mega charizard y is the second highest ranked mega.

I really wish they would bring back Megas. It’s impossible to buff shitmons without them. Adding a stone for my bro Vanilluxe to hold so it can change its ability and stats is the only way to buff it. Simply changing its ability and stats without the toy selling gimmick is impossible.

Don’t bother, /vp/ is too retarded to understand most Pokemon have some redeeming quality that can make them good given the right format. The only kind of shitmons that genuinely need buffs are those that have little or no actual redeeming qualities, like Mawile before the Mega, or Flygon right now (lots of sucky 3rd gen mons out there desu).
