Always baffles me how much people get into competitive. Literally just use your favorites. If you cared about SR you'd be using some bullshit stall team and win by causing your opponent to forfeit half the time due to being fucking bored. If you're playing for fun, they're you're probably using your favorites like you should be doing anyway.

Issue with non-Karenfags is it's a rabbit hole. If you're specifically looking for the best possible competitive team and you don't care about the specific mons you're using, then yeah competitive is probably a ton of fun because it's basically one big impossible problem you're solving. You can't make a foolproof team, but it's could be fun to see which one has the highest win ratio in the current generation. Stuff like "this match has been going on for over 100 turns" doesn't matter then because you're basically doing an experiment and what matters is the result. If you do care about which mons you're using, trying to balance what's meta and what you want to use is just torture. You need to pick a side, and it's unlikely the funnest teams for you aren't also going to be the best performers.

Using your favorites could sometimes lead to a lot of creative and new meta picks. Nidoqueen is one of the examples I really like, she's one of my favorite pokemon and I used her a lot in gen 4 as a tank, turns out that later on she would become one of the most used pokemon at the end of gen 4 in singles. But don't shit on people for liking competitive and searching for the best pokemon to use, any competitive game has a meta, there's always the good ones and the bad ones.

The only reason Kyurem-Black is in OU and Kyurem-Whiteboi isn't is because K-W is blatantly superior and is in Ubers.

You know, the meta with Megas, Z-moves, Dynamax (yes, Kyurem-B was actually banned before Dynamax in that tier), and with unholy terrors like Zygarde, Genesect, and Kartana.
It got banned because of 2 additions to its movepool.
