>>42764978The whole premise of this series is it being a soft reboot of the anime. Rather than focus on a single region or a single game, it is celebrating and marketing every generation and even GO. The anime has tried to reinvent itself with every succeeding series, ever since BW. BW was a callback to Kanto and Orange Islands. XY was trying to emulate the standard shonen formula. SM tried the slice-of-life/vacation anime formula. And now the new series is focusing on marketing Pokemon as a whole, rather than just a single game, by using Ash (the proxy for the main series) and Go (the proxy for GO and Let's Go games).
>So far, featuring "every region" seems to be nothing more than a marketing gimmick, since only the Galar episodes feature actual locations and characters from those regions, everything else is made up.Although several Kanto locations are anime-only, many of them are actually based on lore. The Dragonite island, for instance, is actually specified in Dragonite's dex entries, ever since Crystal. Crystal directly stated that a Dragonite island exists. Actually, the whole episode is an amalgam of Dragonite dex entries.
SS007 focused on the Hoenn Battle Frontier. SS008 focused on Snowpoint City, but rather than the city itself, the frozen waters next to it like in the games. (The same waters that are crossed over to get to the Battle Area.) SS009 focused on the Tin Tower from Ecruteak City. And while there isn't a forest near Vermillion City, there is a forest-like route (Route 11) next to Vermillion City in the games. SS014 takes place in the Resort Desert, a place that was only briefly seen in the BW anime (due to the retcon).
