There's also regular animals in canon I think, so those are probably most of the food, but who knows. But yeah, probably half or more can approach human intelligence, which makes for a REALLY interesting story about the social environment and how pokemon would actually be treated.
They tend to be treated like the New Game+ of pets, as in the same but a little different and better, but I liked Detective Pikachu because plenty of pokemon just did jobs and clearly functioned in society on a human level.
