well pokemon ranch was just a normal game i don't remember it having any online features so it should work just fine just make sure it's the same region as your ds games

It did have online features. You could visit other player's ranches (there are also NPC ranches you can visit). It was nothing exciting, but for storage software for gen IV, it didn't really need to be.

I mainly just want to try and get the Mew from there and sorta just have it as I missed out on it despite me loving everything in Gen 4. I'm really just concerned about having it connect to my DS.

I actually finally moved my Mew forward. It was Docile, so it was pretty useless until now. It also comes with Hypnosis, as well as Synthesis, for some reason.
