Especially Gen4, which marked the beginning of the end. Probably the worst generation next to Gen 6.
It's not fun. The stories are boring. The chracters shit. The dialog is terrible. The battles (vs npcs) are so damn boring that the most "gameplay" you have in modern Pokémon games is avoiding grass and trainers as much as possible because getting in a battle does NOTHING except steal your time.
If you're lucky, there are like 2 battles per game that you may even lose unless you misclick like 6 times in a row.
Give this series to a competent developer again, god damn it. Genius Sonority wasn't perfect by any stretch, but the stories and battles they put out in their games were MUCH better. I WANT to like Pokémon. I want to look forward to Battles. I want a story that's actually interesting, not the same god damn story for the 9th time with minor twists.
