on top of this that entire playthrough I never knew I could scroll right in my bag for pokeballs, so never caught anything until way after I beat the game with Charizard. First caught mon was a Zubat. I also thought the Magikarp I was sold was the key to get into the first gym in Viridian. Oh also getting through Mt. When I first played Gold didn't know you had to talk to Elm's aide to get egg to progress past Violet city and thought the game I got was some sort of demo. I did eventually figure out that I was being retarded and managed to progress (this was like 3 weeks later, don't ask why I didn't try speaking to any NPC during that time).

Playing Silver when I was 7 before knowing any English (and in one of those 100-in-1 japanese cartridges, way before Silver ever came out in my country, so we thought it was a fake one), I could not for the life of me find out there was this house you needed to find prof. Oak in and before I even ever got pokeballs.

I had a level 27 Crocanaw fighting ???'s puny chikorita, and just blasted through the game with my Feraligatr on steroids.

English wasn't my first language and I was a young kid back then, so I didn't know I could switch Pokémon in my party. So every time I wanted to lead with a certain Pokémon I deposited everything else in a box and then took my team again afterward. I loved the Pokemon franchise ever since it came out, watched the cartoon, had the cards, had loads of toys and plushes, but I never owned a gameboy or gameboy color so Sapphire was the first game I got to play myself. Once you get used to the game wild battles become a chore but I had only ever watched other people play the first 2 gens and I was hyped beyond measure to finally play the game for myself, so once I got my Mudkip I just spammed wild battles and had a lvl 20 Marshtomp before even reaching the forest before the 1st gym. I wasn't grinding on purpose either I was just having so much fun being able to finally play Pokemon that I couldn't help myself.

I did similar in GS as a dumb kid. I sucked at figuring shit out, so had no idea how to progress in Kanto and how to get past the Snorlax's. So just ended up battling the E4 a shit ton and getting all my mons to LV 100. Then someone finally showed me I was supposed to get the Mech part after beating the Rocket grunt and to take it to Power Plant to get the Kanto Radio Card. And then I easily and absolutely wrecked the rest of Kanto and Red.

I was 6 when I got Yellow version and a gbc and that was p much my first video game. Between overleveling Pikachu to beat Brock with a team of other level 2 Pokemon to not being able to find flash and brute forcing the Rock Tunnel to not understanding that Pokeballs missing articuno meant I should just keep trying instead of using a Master Ball my first run at Pokemon was a huuuuuge mess. Took me until I was 9 or 10 to get to the League, and then my file corrupted so I actually went through the game properly and beat it when I was 12-13. At this point I had properly played through Pokemon Crystal but not beaten it, and also beaten Sapphire and Leafgreen as well as being well into Diamond or beaten Diamond? Point being is that the first run is always horrendous especially when you're young lmao

I did this with red. I tried standing on the 'door' and pressing every button, trying from the sides, interacting with everything in the house looking for a key or an event I had missed. It was my first game so walking through the wall didn't occur for a good half hour. Then I used my masterball on an onix.

Pokemon was my first game ever and I wasn't fond of reading so I often got stuck with even the most simple shit. Like for example, I was around 7 or 8 when I first played diamond and when the rock smash rock in ravaged path said "A special pokemon can smash this rock" I literally thought it meant I had to catch a specifc mon. I caught 3 of every mon i could find including the 2% chance psyduck but it didn't work. I was kinda mad too cause I spent hours on that shit. Later on I hit a wall with gardenia. I picked piplup so i was at a disadvantage, I wasn't one of those kids who only used his starter, but I actually used too many other mons, constantly switching out all my team members EXCEPT my starter, so by the time I got to Eterna city I had a level 21 prinplup and like 15 other mons all between level 8-14. I ended up spamming gardenia with peck for literal months straight, only exp gained was from defeating 1 or 2 of her mons, until finally my level 30 prinplup beat her. the most autistic moment for tho was probably that for like, 6 fucking years until I was 13 I genuinely thought Sp.attack and Sp.defense stood for speed attack and speed defense and represented how your speed stat was compared to your attack and defense. I literally fucking knew about the split too, I can't comprehend how tf I came to think that

Did the classic thinking causing a wild pokemon to faint meant I had caught it. Didn't know I had to go into the menu to select the poke ball. I figured if it fainted, I can just pick it up and it's mine. Didn't know where all my catches were going. Had a level 30 Charmeleon before I figured that out.

My best m8 was the true retard. He had a level 50+ Blastoise before beating the first gym.

My first Pokemon game was Red, and I really wanted a Meowth for my team, because it was a cat and I liked cats. I remembered how the game described the Master Ball - it can catch any Pokemon without fail.
I may have been a bit dim, but I wasn't entirely stupid. I saved before I did anything, promptly got into a fight with a Trainer on a route I never fully cleared that had a Meowth, and promptly got that Masterball smacked away and told "Don't be a thief!"

I'm sure this was well before I had ever heard of the Missingno. exploit, so I hadn't duped my Masterball like the filthy exploiter I later turned out to be. Reloaded that save and kept my Masterball for Mewtwo like a sane individual. Trading for a Meowth didn't factor into my thought process, because I didn't know anyone else with a copy of Blue and I didn't have a link cable. I did eventually get my Meowth - but I'm pretty sure that's because I bought a gameshark and used Encounter Any Pokemon to fill out my dex.

My first game was SS, my brother had HG. My age must've been a single digit and I didn't speak english. HGSS came with the Pokéwalker thing and I put a Geodude on there and messed around in the boxes to find out how stuff works. I asked my dad what "release" meant and he didn't know either and told me to just try the option, making me release my starter. I restarted the game, but now the Geodude from the first playthrough is stuck in the Pokéwalker but who cares I never use it. When I got to the Elite Four I got completely thrashed because I brute forced through the whole game with my starter and never used items so as soon as he fainted, the rest of my team got wiped. I temporarily traded a random mon for my brother's Typhlosion which was lvl 83 or something and used those two to eventually beat the Elite Four. Afterwards I got stuck because I didn't know I had the thing the Team Rocket dude gives you for the radio (I think I beat him on the bridge but never went back to get the Pokéflute radio) so a couple years later I restarted and played the game "properly"

Oh yea, when I was a kid I remember using hydropump on pokemon whenever i ran into them. My mon was really over levelled so it always one shot, so I used to always seem so confused when I would one shot a grass mon and i'd get told it wasn't very effective. Seemed pretty fucking effective to me, I thought my game was retarded

I would catch boxes full of caterpie that I caught from the route above cerulean city and get very upset whenever they lowered my speed with string shot because the dialogue box didn't specify that stat changes reset after battle. I never made it past Blue on the SS Anne.

When I was six, I got Pokemon Yellow. My biggest issue at the time was the fact I could barely read. This meant that when the time came to cross the Rock Tunnel, I had no idea I needed Flash. It took me months to get out.

After getting out, I spent a few months stuck in Lavender town since I didn't know I needed the Silph Scope from the Rocket Hideout. I only found the Hideout when I saw a Rocket Grunt in the game corner.

It's safe of you know what you're doing. Also useful to complete the dex of you don't have ppl to trade with for version exclusives since you can use the same glitch to spawn whatever you want. It's almost the same as the Mew Glitch.

Missingno (the Pokémon) =/= the Missingno Glitch.
Missingno, when encountered in Yellow, will very often crash the game, but the save file will never be corrupted by it.

Missingno does exist in Yellow, but the Old Man Glitch doesn't work, so it can only be encountered through GameShark codes, the Extended Mew Glitch, and ACE. Regardless, although unlike its RB counterpart it will often crash the game when encountered, it cannot corrupt your save file.
The point is that this anon >>42785637 is either lying or mistaken, as the 'Missingno Glitch' (which almost always refers to the Old Man Glitch) isn't possible in Yellow, and even if he encountered Missingno with a GameShark (the Extended Mew Glitch wouldn't have even been known back then), his save wouldn't have been corrupted.

I couldn’t beat emerald because Milotic countered me hard, and I was a stupid child, so my Team besides blaziken and FUG were varied levels of bullshit, vastly underleveled compared to my starter and legendary. Who despite being over leveled I still couldn’t beat milotic and I was too stupid to just level a Pokémon that wasn’t weak to it someway, and I didn’t know types back then I think.
So I restarted the game
And by this I mean I didn’t delete my game, I mean I bred a new torchic and went back to the actual start of the game and just retraced the path through it with blaziken still in my party with its spawn

When I reached Viridian City and went to the PokeMart, I got stuck. I was done buying and selling, but the third option was "quit". I didn't want to quit though, I wanted to keep playing. In the end, I rebooted to continue.

It didn't take me weeks but I played Emerald for the first time earlier this year and got stuck on that same area for an hour or so. I looked up a playthrough on YouTube to figure out where to go.

It's just not readily apparent that it's an overhang and if I recall there's not any other place before that where you have to walk under something, so there's no reason you'd assume you could walk under it.
