20 years ago I got Pokemon Blue on Gameboy Color.
It was amazing. It was one of the most thrilling video game adventures I've ever experienced.

After SwordShield I'm gonna replay Blue.
What do you guys think, is it still the best Pokemon game ever?
I dunno why but it's just so mysterious, hard to beat and has so much soul.

It has memorable moments like the cruise ship and casinos.
The game was so hard it actually felt like something unlike SwordShield that you can just buttonmash through.

Why do people still spout this shit? Kanto is objectively the easiest region to date and commits every sin /vp/ hates in the newer games, but gets a free pass because muh genwun
>Gyms have garbage movesets that don't even attempt to cover their weaknesses, every one is beaten by simply spamming a single SE move over and over
>Latter half of the game is paced awfully, the last couple of Gyms can be beaten minutes apart
>Giftmons fucking everywhere

The only thing I liked about Kanto is the simplicity, the lack of a dumb legendary plot makes the League feel like the climax of the game instead of a tacked-on afterthought after you save the entire fucking universe or whatever. Weirdly enough though, the only other game to focus on the League was BW, which Kantofags seem to unanimously hate.

Most other video games and their fans can come up with reasons why they like a game beyond playing it as a child but Pokemon fans are always:
"I grew up with this game/gen so it's ny favorite and the best."
And just that, with gen 1 fans being the most loud example.

Gen 2 had the worst replay value thanks to ths shit pokemon distribution and the weak as fuck trainers pre and postgame.

You were a kid that's why was mysterious. No one plays red and blue anymore for anything other than nostalgia. The games aged badly and we're honestly pretty shit RPGs compared to other stuff out at the time. People feel in love with the franchise not the game ifself

I feel like Gen 1 has so much more mystery and excitement because the graphics are so simple that even a new sprite is epic to see.
