The colour scheme and lighting of the landscape really doesn't match the bright colours of the monsters. I'm not a fan of the "lose them forever" thing, especially since it looks like the method of retrieving them is incredibly tedious since its just darksouls "walk here and hope you don't get roadblocked" which really undermines the forming bonds aspects. Especially if you can just get destroyed in combat like that combo makes it seem.
There are two reasons this won't work, 1 because there's a time limit meaning that the darksouls method of "Okay i remember how this all worked now its time to be really careful and use what i know" its "FUCKFUCKFUCK RUN GOTTA RUN OH SHIT I GOT ATTACKED AND THEY DESPAWNED FUCK" and 2 because you don't give a shit about your darksouls character.
It looks like it'll be fine game if they limit themselves but it looks like it'll either get dragged through development hell or they'll spread themselves too thin and make lots of shallow systems that don't do anything.
