Every other JRPG ever pools your EXP, I don't understand why people act like it's a problem when Pokemon adopted it 20 years later. The problem is the difficulty curve didn't really take it into consideration.

Not always, only to active party members i've seen a lot too and pokemon only really has one active party member at a time.
