Has anyone ever justified why Pokemon Storage systems like Bank and Home have to be cloud-based, always online, and subscription services? What was wrong with things like Box, Stadium, and Ranch?

Online storage allows GF nullify save edits and things akin to that. However this is gamefreak and they don't address the main issues, just the easy ones like how to get retards to pay for megabytes of online storage in 2020.

HOME doesn't check if a Pokémon is hacked. You can transfer a hack mon onto it and trade it over GTS.
It's actually less secure than the old way.

I like the idea that it is cloudbased and linked to Nintendo account, this basically ensures that all pokemon from now on will be (hopefully) transferable to future generation of game, instead of being stored on Console specific/software games htat need extra work on compatiblity workournds just to transfer.

I don't like the current implementation though. I like the idea.

I liked it until they announced Home as a separate service to Bank. If it was something more like Ranch where you could actually see/interact with your Pokemon then I wouldn't mind it as much, but it's literally just Bank 2 with some extra features spread out annoyingly between the Switch and mobile versions.
Now who's to say that we aren't going to get a 3rd, slightly different variant on the next Nintendo console that you'll also have to buy a subscription for?
