Why is this surprising? His whole thing is being a multi-faceted artist. And usually if you can draw in a very competent cartoon-y style, you can adapt to other styles without much trouble, too

Imakuni is a TCG artist that came up with the entire wacky-rapping-guy-in-a-bear-costume thing to promote the TCG, he's not some random established comedian they hired to do some promotion work. Being an artist has always been his main thing.

Yeah, nobody outside Japan knew who the hell Imakuni was aside from "that guy from the gameboy game" since all the promotional shit he did was Japan-only. And those cards only really made sense if you knew about the guy.
