>>42812448>Gen 6Chespin line is ok, but only in its shiny color palette. I wouldn't use it, but I don't hate it either.
Fennekin line is an abomination.
I used the Froakie line. It's cool, but ultimately didn't care for it in the end. Ash-Greninja ruined my appreciation for the Pokemon because now whenever I think of Greninja I now think of the cringefest that is Ash and the Pokemon anime.
Future Gen 6 runs will be a box gen.
>Gen 7I used the Rowlet line. Rowlet is my favorite unevolved starter because it's simply the cutest and owls are pretty cool. Decidueye's wings are a little funky but overall it's a solid design. I wouldn't use one without access to Z-Tailwind, though.
Litten line is ok. Not much to say.
Popplio is cute, but the rest of the line is an abomination.
I'd either pick Rowlet or box depending on if I wanted to use another Grass and/or Ghost type in future Gen 7 runs.
>Gen 8Grookey line is ok, but there are so many other available Grass types that I'd want to use over it.
Sobble had potential despite its design being lackluster, but Intelleon really fucked it up. Hard pass.
Scorbunny is cute and fun, but I knew it would evolve into something awful. I was right, so that's another hard pass.
I haven't bought or played Gen 8, but if I did, it'd be a box gen.
So overall, the only starter I'd even consider using over the past 3 gens is Rowlet, but only under certain circumstances.
I'm not big on starters. I find wild Pokemon of the same types more interesting.
