I can ask the same thing for Fighting coverage, and Fighting as a type still sucks dick.
And plus, that was Gen 1 when everything wanted Ice coverage.
Want to know why?
Steel and Fairy didn’t exist, Fire didn’t resist Ice in Gen 1, Blizzard had broken accuracy for its power, and Freeze was basically a KO.
Then Gen 2/6 nerfed the typing with Steel resisting/being Super Effective and being the best type in the game too, Fire now resisting Ice and having a good match-up on Steel, and when Fairy the whole Dragon Slayer role.
Now all Ice is pretty much amounts to being Water types’s best tools against Grass.
Every Ice type would benefit from having any other type, and you have to be pretty delusional to think.
Hell, Arceus, Silvally, and the Galar fossils are proof enough that the Ice Typing sucks.
