There'd probably be a lot of confusion as to why they ended up adding even more babies.
I think people would be split on the Legendary trio. The novelty of ornate "powerful looking" Legendaries has long since worn out, but on the other hand the originals were pretty damn cringy looking. Another weird thought: there would have NEVER been any debate about whether they're meant to be canine or feline; the scrapped versions were very much dogs.
Overall though I think their discovery would be much less intriguing. The Gen 2 designs we got played it pretty safe and was a fairly natural extension of the OG 151. The beta Gen 2 designs feel very experimental. I can still hardly believe the voodoo doll and beta Hitmontop ever got close to being approved. That's not a criticism. I absolutely love those 2 designs and would have loved to see them as actual Pokemon.
